There is nothing wrong with your computer screen. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. Gorillaz for Beginners is controlling transmission.

This week:

Gorillaz Almanac

To celebrate their 20th anniversary, Gorillaz announced a brand new book that’ll be packed with all kinds of content; most notably an official Gorillaz comic! Each copy of the almanac includes a CD which will (supposedly) compile the first season of Song Machine (10 tracks total).

The almanac is available to buy here and comes in 3 editions; Standard, Deluxe (larger pages, a slipcase, signed by the band and bundled with art prints/stickers) & Super Deluxe (the deluxe edition in a specially designed case and signed by Jamie Hewlett). It releases on October 16th.

Anyone currently in London may have noticed a series of billboards displaying all kinds of abstract art and uplifting messages as the UK begins to ease out of lockdown. This is an ad campaign Gorillaz have taken part in with a new image of 2D on display at Kingsland Road.

Gorillaz In 1883

Back in March, a Gorillaz article was announced for 1883 Magazine. @nbgorillaz got their hands on a copy this week and took pictures of the interview.

2D On TikTok

Gorillaz’ official TikTok was recently revived in the wake of their song, Dirty Harry, going viral with a trend Gorillaz have now participated in.

Humility Is 2

Today marks the 2-year anniversary of The Now Now’s lead singles, Humility & Lake Zurich. Here’s what a few fans had to offer in celebration:

Live In Barcelona

Brace yourselves for 2021, because Gorillaz are confirmed performers at next year’s Primavera Sound festival in Spain!

Gorillaz alumni such as Jehnny Beth, Kano & Little Simz are also set to perform at the festival.

New Russel Art

Jamie’s IG gave us another teaser with some new artwork, this image bearing a strong thematic resemblance to the 2D image from last February.

Seye’s Acoustic Aries

Seye Adelekan’s amazing cover of Aries has been followed up with a new acoustic rendition, uploaded by @gorillazraritiez.

Slowboat’s Buried Treasures

Speaking of Gorillaz Raritiez, the team recently made a stunning discovery. In 2006, Gorillaz released a DVD + CD-ROM set for Phase 2, the latter disc containing an assortment of games, wallpapers & screensavers. However, a handful of additional games were found buried in the disc’s code, giving us more relics from the band’s elusive past.
