G-Mix 11
G-Mix made a shocking revival last Friday, replacing the Wish You Were Here playlists from last October with a new selection of songs picked by the band. Unlike the first 10 waves of G-Mix, this new set’s covers have a radically different design based on the art we’ve seen promoting Song Machine.
Murdoc’s mix notably contains a slowthai song, so there’s a good chance that other artists amongst these picks could be future collabs…
Record Store Day Revivals
A recent leak has surfaced revealing that we may potentially see 2001’s G Sides & 2007’s D-Sides on vinyl for the first time ever on this year’s Record Store Day (April 18th). Based on the info we have, G Sides will be a 2-record LP, while D-Sides will be a 3-record LP; with both albums likely being released on 12″ records.
While most of G Sides’ tracks were released on vinyl back in the day (the only exceptions being Dracula, Rock the House (Radio Edit) & Hip Albatross), the only D-Sides tracks on vinyl prior to this release were 68 State & DARE (DFA Remix); making the latter release a definite must-have for vinyl collectors.
New 2D Art
For the first time in 2 months, brand new art has been teased via Jamie’s Instagram.

The art resembles a keyframe from Momentary Bliss, but could likely be for a future episode. Only time will tell when the official use of this image comes to light.
A New Snapchat Filter
Snapchat users were given a chance to show their love for Gorillaz with a new filter now accessible via playing Momentary Bliss through Shazam. A few clips have even surfaced to show what the filter is like, with behind-the-scenes footage of Momentary Bliss’ recording sessions accompanying them.
Noodle’s TikTok Bio
Following in the footsteps of Russel and 2D, Noodle has taken part in the “character select challenge” on TikTok, giving us a (mildly questionable) list of her personality traits.
The next (and likely final) bio will probably be Murdoc, it’s just a matter of time until it drops…
Song Machine Extended Theme
One of the strangest occurrences this week was seeing the single, Song Machine Theme Tune receive an update on streaming services, as the song is now 7 seconds longer.
It’s likely that this was done to make the track profitable on Spotify, as the bare minimum for a stream to make any profit is 30 seconds.
Instrumental Bliss
Karaoke specialists SongJam have seemingly dropped the official instrumental for Momentary Bliss on their YouTube channel (with notably incorrect lyrics in the video).
Episode 2: The Machine Is Rumbling…
It’s been a few weeks since Song Machine began, but Gorillaz have already started hyping up the next episode of their new series. Firstly, we saw the teaser from episode 1’s music video on Gorillaz’ Instagram.
This post notably specifies that it was taken at Lago di Como, the same place Damon & Jamie reportedly filmed a music video with Fatoumata Diawara (as covered here back in September); making her a likely feature on episode 2. The clip was also posted by Song Machine’s animation company, The Line, reporting that the episode will be out soon.
Between a private video recently surfacing in the official YouTube playlist for Machine Bitez and Gorillaz continuing to build hype with comments regarding the next instalment of Song Machine, it seems like we won’t have to wait much longer for Episode 2…
