Get Lost – Chapter 2
The band’s telegrams continued this week with Russel giving fans a few eating/drinking games to make us hate food, thanks Russ.
5/4 Fan Video
This week was a big deal for the fanmade content; the fan group Hooligramz released their recreation of the band’s unfinished 5/4 video.
See if you can spot a cameo by scrapped Gorillaz member, Salvador!
Jamie Hewlett – 40 Years
Waaaaaay back in January, artbook company Taschen teased another Jamie Hewlett project. After 4 months, we now have confirmation that this new book is an updated version of his 2017 lithograph. The new edition is part of Taschen’s “40” series, which will take several of their best-selling releases and make them smaller, cheaper, they’ll include more pages and (according to the listing) this one will feature 30 new pieces by Jamie.
Book Depository’s listing gave us a June 23rd release date, meaning we won’t have to wait much longer for the launch. Fingers crossed that this update involves The Now Now/Song Machine art…
2005 Interviews
A few interviews from 15 years ago were recently dug up by a journalist from British magazine, The Face. These one-to-one interviews with Damon & Jamie have them discussing their then-upcoming Demon Days Live shows planned for Manchester, their hologram-based MTV Award show performance and even the early stages for the duo’s Journey to the West project.
Gorillaz As Cookies
The world of parody is an endless buffet for absurd ideas, and the Mexican drink Danup recently unveiled a promotional image for their sandwich cookie flavour that…
…yeah what the hell?
The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Internet Stream Flows
Not Gorillaz news, but noteworthy to mention that Damon appeared Sunday May, 17 on a livestream performing ~20 minutes of music from his opera, The Nearer the Fountain, More Pure the Stream Flows. Sadly, due to the coronavirus, the opera will not be performed this year. Hopefully one day we’ll get to see it live.
You can see the recorded stream via Boiler Room on Youtube:
