Gorillaz News: Sunday, September 8, 2019

New this week:

More G-Shock Leakin’

Instagram user and G-Shock enthusiast morgan_bmw posted a leak of the two Gorillaz x G-Shock models this week. We had already seen the Now Now model after an eBay leak, but this user revealed the Phase 1 camo design. I like that it’s analog!

According to G-Shock, the final episode of Gorillaz x G-Shock will air shortly before the watches go on sale on September 18.

This Week’s Fanart

Just some of the really lovely stuff this week!

Alternate DARE Video

Fans rediscovered the original video for DARE this week. This video was originally aired but soon edited due to the confederate flag in the background of Murdoc’s winnebago (the scene where he wakes up from his cuddly dream with Shaun Ryder). We all know Murdoc is typically offensive, but this would not have aged well.

Jordan Powers of Gorillaz Trivia has done it again — he’s blown me away with his expertise and dedication to Gorillaz! Check out his latest episode of his series Gorillaz 101; this episode covers 101 facts and trivia about the characters themselves. Watch below!

Custom Bass of Ace

Reddit user u/toothbrushhh made an exact replica of Ace’s Bass in the Tranz music video! How badass is this?

Sexy Dirty Harry Cover

This is the 2nd time in a month that Australia’s Triple J has featured another artist covering Gorillaz (Little Simz recently covered Feel Good Inc.) This time, Sydney’s Cosmo’s Midnight and Canberra’s Genesis Owusu collaborated on stage to cover a sexy version (I mean, lots of wah pedal) of Dirty Harry. Listen and watch below:

Murdoc Succeeds at the Cigarette Trick

I love when fan artists animate Gorillaz. I recently stumbled upon this animation on twitter:

I assume this is a callback to Damon’s attempts during the Bananaz documentary.
