Gorillaz News: Sunday, April 11, 2021

Hiya hello! Spring is in the air and Lillaz is here with the recent news!

These 2 weeks:

Gorillaz x Fred Perry

Gorillaz are doing another clothing collaboration, this time with British brand Fred Perry. The band is shown advertising their favorite versions of the original M3 and M12 polos on the Fred Perry website:

The shirts aren’t cheap, though. Personally, I’m looking forward to the new Gfoot drops coming out this year.

Response to NFT Controversy

Gorillaz have finally commented on fans’ discontentment with the band’s decision to release exclusive NFTs later this year:

It’s a diplomatic response to all the anger, but still unclear whether this means they’re not going to do the NFTs.

Gorillaz Turnz 20

I have a feeling 2021 will be full of Gorillaz goodies celebrating the band’s 20th birthday!

Here’s the content of a celebratory email that went out to subscribers:

The G Collection

One of the first goodies announced is the G Collection — a 6LP set, released this year for Record Store Day on July 17!

This black vinyl box set contains six Gorillaz studio albums from 2001 – 2020, including their current release “Song Machine, Season 1.”

The collection will be limited to 7,812 copies, and it ain’t cheap! See below:

It’s unclear whether these re-releases will include the unheard demos we’ve been promised.

Will you be getting your hands on this collectors item?

Gorillaz 20 Mix

Possibly as a way to promote the release of the G Collection and the celebration of Gorillaz’ 20th year, the band formally released a single — a 2:45 mashup of all the songs on S/T. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Poté – Young Lies (feat. Damon Albarn)

Damon recently appeared as a collaborator on a new track by Poté:

What do you think? Damon adds a nice touch.
